Sustained Investigation
As each person has their own experiences, influences, and doubts, their individual perception of reality can vary greatly. The central idea of my sustained investigation is about our perception of reality. Some pieces create a literal explanation for what I want to convey to the audience while others are only attempting to capture an emotion or feeling. There are two parts to my exploration in the Perceptions of Reality: man-made versus nature and Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder (DPDR).
1. Man-Made vs Nature
Images 1 to 7 challenge the idea that there is no real difference between peoples creations and things that come from nature. As they inuence each other, the line between the two becomes very blurred. Inspired by concepts such as the
Theory of Forms and the Observer Effect.
2. DPDR
DPDR is a dissociative disorder that makes the diagnosed either believe that they or their surroundings are not real. Images 8 to 15 visualize some of the symptoms of the disorder and also the general sense of eeriness. I was inspired by artists Matt Brackett and Rene Magritte.

Sustained Investigation
My sustained investigation explores the experiences and emotions of the chaos of growing up. Not only focusing on my experiences and perspective of growing up in this day and age, but I also want to explore my generation as a whole as a way to connect us through shared experiences. Through my work I hope to showcase both the positive and negative aspects of each experience, but also utilize emotion and nostalgia to get my message across.
In my pieces I used many mediums to showcase each idea in my investigation. My first piece is a digital painting that shows the feeling of nostalgia when looking back at your childhood. My second image is also a digital painting that uses perspective and shading to show the feeling of pushing through a crowd that you often have to fight against. For most of my pieces, I wanted it to be a dynamic example of growing up where they can be connected but does not get stale with the formula of multiple illustrations which not only challenged me as an artist but helped me grow
